Following nearly two decades as a bankruptcy lawyer and a hedge fund, distressed analyst, Ephraim founded Arbel Capital Advisors LLC in late 2018 to provide interim crisis management, bespoke restructuring advisory services and independent and fiduciary oversight for distressed and special situations. Arbel represents debtors, creditors, principals and investors.

Most recently, at both All Year Holdings Ltd. and Brookland Upreal Ltd., Ephraim, as restructuring officer, took charge of a mixed portfolios of income producing, stalled and pre-development multi-family assets; developing and implementing strategies for restructuring, managing and/or liquidating individual assets and the portfolio, negotiating with a diverse array of lenders, partners, noteholders and other stakeholders, overseeing sales processes, managing litigations and creatively enhancing value for creditors, all in the context of the overlay of an multi-jurisdictional insolvency proceedings.

Prior to opening Arbel, Ephraim was the founding legal analyst for Davidson Kempner’s distress investment group, working on identifying, researching, analyzing, implementing, managing and monitoring investable, legal strategies in both traditional bankruptcy/distress, sovereign/municipal and general litigation and judgment enforcement situations. This allowed Ephraim to litigate in courts across the country, including the Supreme Court, and internationally. In addition, he provided timely analytical and actionable legal support for 50+ member investing team across DK’s distress strategies (corporates, structured products, convertible arbitrage, long/short credit and real estate).

After graduating from NYU School of Law, Ephraim began his career as a bankruptcy associate at Paul Weiss, where he represented creditors, debtors, noteholder groups and lenders in both formal bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings. There, in addition to analyzing credit documents, advising noteholder groups, guiding debtors and boards of directors through the bankruptcy process and negotiating and drafting plans of reorganization, he litigated interest accrual entitlements, claims objections and the limits of impairment. Working closely with the corporate practice, Ephraim also advised banks and lenders on complex structured products and lending transactions.
